No, the title of this post isn’t the name of this club I attended. It’s what I witnessed at this club called, ‘The Summer Club’ located in Long Island city.
This was definitely a sociological experiment for me, which took place on Sunday, May 25th. Will I be attending this ‘club’ again? No. You’d have to pay me to attend this club again.
From my observation: cocaine sniffers across from me, from where I sat. The guy with the coke was sharing with his pals. He looked like Jonah hill’s character in, ‘wolf of wall street’.
Some waitresses were wearing thongs, and some didn’t. All of the servers were Female. The security guards were all men. And, this dude (in the video) shot out bubbles from a toy gun. People were mesmerized by the bubbles. Then I wondered, ‘is everyone here on coke, except me?’
Why I attended in the first place: to see green velvet, a house music DJ from Chicago. Plus, I’ve never seen him live. The flyer didn’t announce the time that green velvet would DJ. So, I arrived at 3pm, and douchebags were spinning some awful music.
I thought, ‘boy, do I fit in this place.’ Plus, this was a rooftop party. Some rooftops are fun, and some are god awful. Overpriced food & drinks, shitty music, and a certain clientele who act like the world revolves around them. I like some rooftops, only for the view. This particular rooftop, the view was the Queensboro bridge.
Finally, I received the answer from a security guard, as to when green velvet would DJ: 9pm. So, I left. I Couldn’t take anymore of the ‘house music’ the douchy DJs were spinning. I have an open mind, when it comes to music. But what these people were spinning was plain boring.
Final observation: 1. I was frustrated because I had to endure 3hrs of these beats. I could’ve left. But, I wanted to get my money’s worth. I guess I was feeling jaded because the DJ I wanted to see was going on much later, and I wasn’t about to wait. 2. Seeing the eye candy was a highlight for me. Not everyday do you see waitresses in thongs. More power to them. 3. Cocaine is a drug I will never understand. Watching these people get high; it’s their nostrils, it’s their choice to get high. That’s their way of having fun, I suppose.
Message of the day: ‘don’t do drugs.’
